Image of Business Aviation centre in developmentWork is underway on the £4.5m business aviation development at Marshall Aerospace Cambridge which will incorporate a purpose-built integrated FBO & MRO facility. Due to open in late Autumn 2008, a 25,000 sq ft hangar is being built adjacent to the existing MRO facility at Cambridge - both facilities will be linked by an integrated purpose-built FBO which will offer a full suite of services for the corporate flyer including exclusive customer lounge facilities on two levels, flight crew sleep cabins and quiet rooms, special planning and weather centres, and catering for passengers and aircraft. Customer fleet offices will also be available. Starting at the beginning of the year, all ground works have been carried out, concrete foundations have been poured and the hangar floor slabs have been laid. The hangar has been constructed in Canada by Sprung Structures, a unique construction which has already been delivered to Cambridge and is currently being assembled by Freespan Structures. Construction of the FBO facility has also started with main assembly beginning on site in June. Passengers and aircraft owners/ operators will be able to use these new dedicated facilities in Autumn 2008 whilst benefiting from the convenient location of Cambridge Airport with direct access to London and beyond.
