Welcome to Cambridge ...

Home to the famous University, carols in King's College Chapel and punting on the river Cam. Cambridge is a compact cosmopolitan city with outstanding architecture, both old and new. The beauty of its ancient centre is preserved with its walkable medieval streets, college courts, gardens and bridges.

Cambridge is a delight to visit in any season: relax in its many pubs, restaurants and cafes whilst exploring the independent shops around the historic market place. There are brand new shopping areas too, with all the high street favourites that you would expect.

Staying in Cambridge for a few days? It´s worth visiting some of the nearby towns.

Visit the Suffolk town of Newmarket, about 14 miles west of Cambridge and the world renowned home of horse racing. Enjoy a day or evening at the races, visit the horseracing museum or watch the horses gallop on the heathland surrounding the town.

Further to the west is Bury St Edmunds, an ancient market town with 12th C. Abbey ruins, award-winning gardens and historic streets bustling with shops, restaurants and cafés.

Approximately 16 miles to the north of Cambridge lies, Ely, one of England's most beautiful small cities - dominated by its spectacular cathedral. Once an island surrounded by marshes, take time to explore the narrow streets lined with historic buildings, such as the former home of Oliver Cromwell.

Sporting days

As well as the home of horse racing close by at Newmarket, there are several Golf courses close to Cambridge including: Gog Magog in Shelford, Saffron Walden Golf Club, Heydon Grange, Girton Golf Club, Menzies Cambridgeshire Golf Club and Suffolk Hotel Golf and Leisure.
